i am so NOT cool.

A lengthy storm rolled through around sunset on Sunday. Pictures can't even begin to capture the lighting, the colors, the smells and THE WIND. Amazing.

In 1997, we moved to a little farm in Cazenovia, Wisconsin and we lived there for four years. The three of us would agree that it was our favorite home ever. The town had less than 300 people and we had more Amish neighbors than non-Amish. Morels were plentiful in the valley behind the house and a small stream ran through the property. The roads were hilly, the bluffs were high, and many a winter day we were snowed in on the property.
So, on the way back from Saturday's roadtrip, we stopped by the old property, which is now vacant. A new gate blocked the entrance and was padlocked shut. We would have climbed the fence and went for a stroll, but we hadn't forgotten that the nosy neighbor, Lloyd, would call the sheriff quick-like.
All that said, here are a few photos from the place. Above, looking down the road to get to the property. It was graveled when we lived there. Below, a view of the house and grain shed as you come down the ridge. You can just make out a bit of the barn behind the trees. (There's also a chicken coop that we repaired to house our chickens when we lived there.) The last photo is, obviously, the view from the driveway.
X cried part of the way home, and we were all terribly nostalgic for the rest of the weekend.

Saturday, we went on a little road trip. X requested that we go out-of-state, so we hit the western side of the Mississippi and spent a bit of time in Iowa and Minnesota. Mostly, though, we just backroaded through Wisconsin, including a stop at a spot in which we used to live, which I'll save for my next post.

I need your help. I would like to wind up the 'unmasked' series over the next few months, but I need more masks. I am especially fond of animal masks, vintage masks, and other interesting designs. I like ones that are simple. We do not want to use latex masks or monster masks or masks with hair or anything fetish-like. If you have something lying around that you have no use for and would like to donate it to our project, I'd be really grateful. While I am not looking to purchase these (thus the word DONATION), I would definitely send you an 8 x 12 copy of the photo (with your mask in it, on X) when the series is completed.
Also, we are desperately looking for a Darth Vader mask and one-color fancy dresses or other monochromatic (brightly-colored OR pastel) outfits in women's size 2 or 4.

I went to the ophthalmologist yesterday and he only dilated one eye. o_0 Thus, I walked in circles like a sick wildebeest for half the day.
