I think that this is the most photographed corner inside of our house. I return to it again and again ... the light, the view, the spider plant, and the mirror.
The mirror is very heavy and it hung over the sink in the original kitchen of the house where I grew up. When the house was remodeled with new cabinets in the mid-1980's, the mirror was saved. And, when the home was eventually sold, it was one of the items that I salvaged (along with my mom's hope chest and the so-cool modern Danish bedroom set that my parents had when they were first married (1969); more on that another time).
Although it hangs in the dining room, it is still opposite the kitchen sink, and I can see the matured reflection of the little girl that once did dishes in front of that mirror so long ago.

I'd love to drink hot tea at that window on a cold, fluffy snow morning.
The light there is perfect, isn't it.
So glad you have that mirror -
It's an intriguing tableau. No wonder you come back again and again.
i think it would be odd to have a mirror at the kitchen sink...i guess because i've usually had a window. i love that you salvaged it...what a treasure
Love the mirror. It's so solid and... permanent looking.
Southland has my same thought.
There's comfort in that corner!
The light is nice there. I wish I had a piece of furniture from my grandparents. They are touchstones to the past.
Oh! there you are. I didn't see you at first, the plant was distracting me.
Splendid photo and story!
