home comforts: day nine
This is an automated post because ... We are at the Wisconsin State Fair today! I'll pass on eating the traditional cream puffs (because I think that they are gross), but I'm sharing a funnel cake with X. (She also plans to try MAPLE COTTON CANDY!)
Please check out these Wisconsin State Fair cream puff videos:

advice from luna: tuna and onions

"If you eat tuna and onions, don't forget to hide the evidence ... or, you shall be shamed until your ears hang low."

home comforts: day seven
P.S. If anyone would like hollyhock seeds, just let me know. I'll send them out in the next month or two.

six years of blogging (also, home comforts: day six)
Six years ago today, I was reading a thread in a homeschooling email group and I noticed that after someone's name, there was a link. I followed it, and it led me to Xanga, a blogging community.
It would be an understatement to say that it forever changed my life.
Here are the links to my posts on (or about) August 6th of each year:
And, so begins year seven ...

bungalow bill aka 'home comforts: day five'
I am only five days into this project, and already it is making me feel deeply contemplative about all sorts of things, like ... the state of my home, things that I slack on, the extremes of my antisocial behavior, buying and preparing food, projects that I want/need/must/will-die-if-I-don't complete, and ...
Oh, wait.
This is what I think about ALL the time.

home comforts: day four
I love Desert Pepper Trading Company's 2-Olive Roasted Garlic Salsa (medium-hot). Also, and I didn't notice this until I looked at the website ... on the jar it says "MAY CONTAIN OLIVE PITS".
Huh.
Good to know.

home comforts: day three
This is one of my favorite corners, and it is next to my spot in the living room, where I sit now and write this post. I recently created it using some of my vintage fruit crates, and put X's snake, Arbok, on top because I like to be near her and she likes the light of the north window, which is nearby.
Because lots of people were curious about the objects in the picture yesterday, I'll list most of what is in this photo:
- On either side of the terrarium are pieces of pottery that I collect, although I collect too much stuff already.
- Top left shelf -- library books (The China Study, Life of Pi, Healthy Living from the Inside-Out, and The Splendid Table's How to Eat Supper), Ready Made and Domino Magazines, my vintage giraffe toy.
- Top right shelf -- Part of our (X and I) collection of vintage guide books.
- Bottom left shelf -- Photography books, ceramic bowl, and dwell magazines. I heart dwell.
- Bottom right shelf -- Martha Stewart Living and Real Simple magazines.
- Left of the shelves -- my dad's camera and camera case.
