Ahhh, State Street. Where I almost mowed down FIVE (at the same time!!!) frat boys. And saw a dog lounging on the roof of a house.
State Street is amazing the first time you experience it, but after that, it loses quite a bit of its luster. At least there's always the street musicians for entertainment.
I love the bikes.
@toxicned - Yeah, especially since the panhandlers are gone. When they littered the streets, it was kind of like playing dodgeball.
Also? Although I spent a good amount of my teenage years hanging on State Street, or maybe because of that, I find that it still holds a warm, nostalgic place in my heart.
@soNOTcool - I find the same applies for The Terrace, but then it could be the availability of beer influencing that.
Looks interesting to me. Lots of stores to go into and look and of course there are the people to watch. Are there places to sit for old people like me to rest and people watch? I gave my bike to the church rummage sale before I killed myself riding it.
Which capitol building is that? Not Washington, is it? I thought you lived in Wisconsin. I am so dense.
Ava
@avajsouth - That is the Wisconsin state capital in Madison. Also, there are lots of benches on State Street.
@soNOTcool - Are there no cars allowed? I just took a secon look and realized there are no cars, How neat! Ava
@avajsouth - Nope, no cars. Only bicycles and pedestrians.
I miss downtown.
Who knew there was more in Wisconsin than cows?! =)
LOVE all the "no bikes" signs. Honestly though, I've never seen "no bikes" signs before. Are bikes considered a nuisance there? LOL
GREAT street shot, too. I'd love to have a bagel at Einstein's...
@KameraSutra - There are A LOT of bicyclists on campus and in Madison in general, so bikes are very welcome and parking is provided/encouraged. That said, this (the bike series) is on campus and the railings between the second and third story of the building isn't the best place for bikes.
Mmm I see Einstein Bros Bagels there on the side. I could go for a toasted bagel with some sun-dried tomato cream cheese! This looks like a fun street to walk down.
What a cute street
Love these shots!
looks like the capitol in the background of the last two.
I was in Madison for the very first time this August. (I was there to present at MathFest.) I absolutely fell in love with this town. Your view of the capital made my heart skip

Heh...I spend a lot of time there actually.
@kirakirasky - You're local?! Cool.
I LOVE this set of pictures.
I don't remember such views when I passed through Mad Town back in June...
Thanks for the glimpse...
