home comforts: day three
This is one of my favorite corners, and it is next to my spot in the living room, where I sit now and write this post. I recently created it using some of my vintage fruit crates, and put X's snake, Arbok, on top because I like to be near her and she likes the light of the north window, which is nearby.
Because lots of people were curious about the objects in the picture yesterday, I'll list most of what is in this photo:
- On either side of the terrarium are pieces of pottery that I collect, although I collect too much stuff already.
- Top left shelf -- library books (The China Study, Life of Pi, Healthy Living from the Inside-Out, and The Splendid Table's How to Eat Supper), Ready Made and Domino Magazines, my vintage giraffe toy.
- Top right shelf -- Part of our (X and I) collection of vintage guide books.
- Bottom left shelf -- Photography books, ceramic bowl, and dwell magazines. I heart dwell.
- Bottom right shelf -- Martha Stewart Living and Real Simple magazines.
- Left of the shelves -- my dad's camera and camera case.

I heart Real Simple magazines... We have four terrariums in our home, not counting the two mini plastic terrariums for our little hog-snooted snakes. Saying my husband is a snake nut is an incredible understatement.

@SuddenlyISee - That's refreshing to hear since so many people are creeped out by them.
I love your photos like this - It reminds me of your household series.
I love the idea of fruit crates as shelving. That's beautiful. Where did you happen upon those crates?
I love seeing clips like this.........
@Viewtiful_Justin - I found them at a tag sale about ten years ago.
I'll have to start keeping my eyes peeled for that sort of thing, because I think it's a great idea, and I ALWAYS need more shelving.
@soNOTcool - Critter asks what kind of snake it is..
@SuddenlyISee - Ball python (royal python). She is about three years old and three feet long. There's a video of her: http://sonotcool.typepad.com/video/2008/07/arbok-vs-mouse.html
my girls are really into giraffes too and have several giraffe toys.
we used to have a little garter snake. i miss ernie. he was awesome.
@lilms_sassy - Awww, Ernie is the sweetest snake name EVER.
Thank you dear friend
I am loving the angle you are taking these from. It is like you are peering down into your life.

LOVE IT!!!
Hope you are feeling okay and your pain is non existent.

Love it. I have 3 old apple crates that I used for some of my books untill recently. Now, 2 of them are being used as nightstands on both sides of my bed.
I love this!!!
I'd love to own a snake but...it's the feeding I'd have difficulty with.
@BloodChild - Feeding the snake usually bothers me too. Sometimes, I can take a video of it, but other times I have to leave the room ... especially if the mouse is cute. The last one looked like my cat (color-wise)!!
