  • Beautimas.  I am so jealous.  Your grass is so green.  It is just so damn dry here.  We've yet to get any "naturally" green anything.

  • We have car/boats things like that here in Miami... and when they go into boat mode, riders/tourists are supposed to blow into their whistles that make noises like a duck squawking. I've always wanted to go on it.

Those floods are no joke! Be safe.

  • Yes, please be careful and stay safe.   Ava

  • Yesterday, I got stranded as the road to my house was flooded over (Hwy 78). Fortunately I got stranded near a bar.  Absolutely no harm done. :) Just for a short while though; I made it home just fine.  I was just musing about how incredibly ironic it was that the ducks were used to evacuate the boo. Beautiful pic. I love, love, love the red on the curb; and it brings out the red in the leaves..

  • @dividedsky58 -  Hey, are they running the ferry?  How's the flooding in Merrimac?  Some places I haven't heard much about on the news, like I didn't know about how bad it is in Rock Springs until I saw footage on the internet.

  • the rains are amazing... and so dangerous lately.

I have never had to pull over my car because of rain,

    this morning.. I surely did.

    be safe,

    *~matthew~*

  • that kinda clear thing on the left is very odd looking. at first i thought it was some weird photoshopping but now i'm guessing it's just some cloudy plastic?

  • i do know that the duck boats they use in branson were those never used in WWII.  they built more than they needed.
and?  having a father who is, and two of three uncles who were, WWII vets. i'm pretty sure that any enjoyment the generations they fought for can glean from something left over from what the went through, would make them happy.
shoot, my DAD's even ridden the duck boats.  and, considering he was in the coast guard, that's saying something.  he loved it.

i'm not going to watch to see how tall our grass can get.  rain and rain and more...and squishy ground UNDER the grass...  way to wet to mow.

i hear our tomorrow's going to be good, but not so our sunday.
sarah will be in town so i'll give her the c.c. and let her take poolboy out to dinner.

  • @Southland - That clear thing on the left??!!!?!  Do you mean ... WATER?!   The photo is of grass blocking the drainage of water

X just said, "Molly worries me a little bit."

  • LOL! i don't know what to say...the edge of the "water" looks so odd to me...it's like some weird optical illusion...i feel now like it's one of those pictures that you look at and then when you finally find the "other" picture in it i won't be able to see what i see now...make sense? probably not. and tell X i did one of those personality tests before and it said that i generally creep people out...OoO

  • @Southland -  Comparing it to an optical illusion explains it well ... Can you actually see the image (water/drain) now?  I think that I have another shot taken from a wider angle that I'll post for you.

  • i have stared at this several times now i still only see what i saw before LOL. it's like the edge of the water is somehow clipped oddly and doesn't look natural. i'm a freek, i know and i mentioned photoshop because since i use it quite a bit, it would be so easy for me to create a "layer" like that, so maybe i just can't force my mind to not see a normal occurence like this one (?) B-zarre!

  • @soNOTcool - "That clear thing on the left??!!!?!  Do you mean ... WATER?!" That just made me burst out laughing, and then continue to laugh for about a minute. I am alone in my apartment and I think my neighbors think I am insane. Then I read what X said and I laughed more.

I totally know what she means, though. I knew it was water, but after reading her comment I scrolled up and I can see what she means. It's just one of those things that sometimes you look at something funny and you can't get it out of your head, even when you know what it really is.

    Ah, still laughing. Whew.
